PadletUQ LTI tool Pilot

January 2020July 2020

What is the PadletUQ LTI tool?

The PadletUQ LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) tool allows staff to create a web link in their Learn.UQ course which automatically generates an individual Padlet for each student, based on an existing Padlet template, when students click on the link. Staff also have the option during setup to automatically create a Grade Centre column for marking purposes. Students just need to add the course teaching staff as collaborators to their Padlet initially so staff can view them through padletuq.padlet.org.

How was the pilot initiated?

Due to the new functionality becoming available, the PadletUQ LTI tool was piloted during Semester 1 2020.

What was the objective of the pilot?

The objective of the pilot was to test and validate the benefits of using the PadletUQ LTI tool as an alternative to individual Blogs, Journals, Wikis and Discussion Boards. PadletUQ offers personalisation and a huge range of rich media which these more traditional forms of assessment do not.

What happened?

The PadletUQ LTI tool was successfully piloted in both a post-graduate and undergraduate course during Semester 1, 2020 as an alternative for summative weekly Blogs, Journals and Discussion Boards. Course teaching staff were provided with adopter support which included technical and implementation advice from a teaching qualified eLearning Adviser. An instructional guide on Bulk creating individual Padlets has been produced and made available to all staff who wish to implement the tool.
